FABRIC FRIENDS - Devlog 10/15/25

Hey there friends, Austin here with a pretty substantial update to Fabric friends. We're now at our second prototype of the game, and making steady progress to the game through internal play tests, as well as feedback from play testers online, and in-person.

First things first, I want to explain what exactly this game is about. Fabric friends is a card game that allows the player to use creature cards to fight one another in a head to head battle. The ultimate goal of the game is to get 3 KO's to win. In addition to this however, we are designing a game that teaches folks about the fashion industry and its real world uses and such. All of our cards are meant to be solely themed around fashion in some way or another. The characters especially are themed on a certain type of clothing or fabric. With this being said, we are still developing the game and hope to have a polished version before our showcase in December.

Our first prototype of fabric friends was to design a simple 1 on 1 scenario, using the colors for the two decks, red and blue, we wanted to go for cotton vs. polyester as our first battle scenario. As we have went past that, the game has expanded to new mechanics as well as new cards for the players to try out.

To give a brief rundown of our game I want to mention the content within our game. Since our last dev log we have made many substantial changes to the game. Some of these include, but are not limited to:

- Material cards (Supporting cards)

- Creature cards (The actual playable cards in battle)

-Stich up cards (A stronger variant of creature cards)

- Lint cards (Energy adjacent cards)

All of these cards are what is used to play the game, they each have their own unique properties and perform different actions. I also want to briefly explain what each member of our team has currently been working on for the game.

Logan: Illustrations and character design
Austin: Graphic design and tabletop simulator moderation
Sean: Card descriptions for material cards
Gadson: Move-sets for some creature cards as well as general rules

As we move forward, we are trying to experiment more with our game, trying to make it stand out among other TCG games that are currently on the market. We dont want to re invent the wheel, however, we also dont want the game to feel too similar to other games that card game players have played prior. Implementing the new stich up system is our big focus of this second prototype and is where we hope to gain the most feedback in the coming week as the play tests roll in. Logan also plans to refine the current illustrations for our cards so that we aren't just using sketches as placeholders.

If you would like to try the game for yourselves, feel free to check out the workshop page on steam linked below, thanks for reading and we hope to see you guys in our next log.
